Gambling Establishments Negatively Affect More Then Just The Compulsive Gambler

At one point in time people welcomed the gambling establishments in hopes that they would help revive their community, increase jobs and increase economic development. As each placed opened, it did just that. They created jobs, increased revenues for local businesses and created construction jobs as they began to grow. It was a positive influence in the community, but as time went on more and more people began to spend their money on a chance to win, the gambling establishments grew and local businesses began to suffer.

People never realized the negative affect the gambling establishments created because local politicians supported these places. People were not given all the facts.

There are states that had the statistics, but still went ahead and welcomed the gambling establishments with open arms.

The gambling ling establishments attracted a large percentage of their employees from an estimated fifty mile radius negative affecting local business establishments.

The gambling establishments are able to have better benefits and hourly wages then local businesses.

Communities hear that a thousand construction jobs have just been created due to the local gambling establishment’s expansion. What people don’t realize is this new expansion once completed will take more jobs from our local businesses. One place grew so big they began to transport employees by bus that lives over fifty miles away.

No one ever took the time to realize that these places could not expand if people didn’t lose their money gambling. These places are parasites and leeches that have no concern for those lives and businesses they have destroyed.

The gambling establishments are here to stay as long as local governments depend upon them for tax revenue. Once gambling hits epidemic proportions where tax payers and businesses can no longer make their tax payments nothing will ever change. It’s unfortunate the governments are playing a wait and see game before they will react.

Addicted Gambler Can Not Stop Gambling Due to Tactful Advertising By Local Gambling Establishments

Gambling has been a form of entertainment since the beginning of time. Today gambling establishments have created a world with in a world of beauty and elegance in order to entice you to enter their enterprise. They do not discriminate and cater to all income levels. They even went as far as to install penny slot machines to entice senior citizens and lower income families. The bottom line is if you have money they are willing to take it.

The gambling establishments do not twist your arm to get you there. They use a subtle subliminal approach to affect your senses.

The gambling establishments use the following to keep you coming back time and time again even if you do not have the financial resources:

Provide round trip transportation, food vouchers and gambling coupons

Rate your play so you can buy things at the local gift shops.

Send you a fifty dollar gas vouchers to their gas stations located on the gambling establishment

Send you gift certificates at holiday time. They even include a letter to remind you that you can purchase your holiday gifts while you are enjoying the life of luxury.

They bring in the best entertainers like Cher, Olivia Newton John, Clay Aiken, Burt Reynolds and more.

Every half hour when you’re at home you see show tune commercials that you just want to sing a long to.

Sponsoring local events and the news

Donating to revitalization zones

Donating to local charities

Technological advanced futuristic nightclubs

A birthday celebration for you

They send gambling coupons that you could win up to $24,000.00

The list goes on and on. People need to realize that the gambling establishments are using your money and others to lure you to go there. Once you are there they got you. I remember going with friends to the night club located in the middle of the casino surrounded by gaming tables. On the drive there we all agreed we were not going to gamble. Our goal was to use the free tickets, dance and forget all the stress in our lives. That was our intention. After the club closed every one was still wide awake and we didn’t want to go home. We all agreed to play for an hour. The next thing we know it was five in the morning. We headed home with our tail between our legs, because we all lost more then fifteen hundred dollars. We had an average loss of three hundred dollars per person. We were all in shock and said we are never going to do this again. Only to repeat the same pattern over and over.

Gambling establishments use these incentives on individuals who are addicted to gambling from straying to far. These places understand what they need to do to keep you coming back time and time again.

We are living in a new world we’re gambling is playing a major part. It’s time to for people to take control and educate themselves. The next time the gambling establishments send you an offer, you know it’s not worth your time and effort.

The Professional Casino Gambler

The professional casino gambler can walk into a casino and everybody knows he is there. He is flamboyant in his own right but not too obvious and he doesn’t seem to notice.

The person I am describing here has been bless with more luck than any punter has ever experienced or deserves. He usually heads to the craps table but he never touches the dice himself. If the table is quiet when he arrives, his cry of “Let’s get this party started” will certainly lighten the mood and whip everyone into a frenzy.

His every twitch, hand gesture and movement is watched by the casino. When he plays the sportsbook, he can literally move lines. This is because he will pack a million dollars into seven or eight briefcases and send his friends scurrying throughout Las Vegas to place the wagers. Vegas knows it, the casinos know it but he is still able to spread his money all over town unchallenged.

The hosts love the professional gambler and if he is in full “gambling mode” they will gladly send a plane to pick him up half way across the country or even half way across the world. He is the big fish that attracts interest from other gamblers and when he plays, he will cost a casino hundreds of thousands of dollars and possibly even more than that.

In ten years of knowing this man, I have only seen him lose once. I am sure he has lost more than that but I witnessed it once in spectacular fashion. While most normal gamblers would be reaching for a noose at the prospect of losing so much money in such a short space of time, he, on the other hand, did not seem too concerned as he boarded the plane home.

He just patted his wife on the back and said with a knowing smile: “this time I can’t buy you that oceanfront mansion, but next time baby, you’ll have it”.

I met his wife that day and she revealed to me the sting in the tail. You see, there is never a “next time” with the professional gambler, only a much larger bet or investment. He has never stopped to reap and enjoy the rewards of a mammoth win. Further bets just get bigger and the promises more lucrative but ultimately more distant.

That is the life of the true Gambling Man.
